On Saturday, September 24, Cricbuzz reported that the former India National Cricket Team batter Sanjay Manjrekar’s Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) exile has ended and the 57-year-old is back in the BCCI panel of commentators.

If reports are to be believed, Sanjay Manjrekar is now set to commentate during the upcoming three-match ODI series between Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Temba Bavuma-led South Africa National Cricket Team.

The South Africa tour of India 2022 consists of a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series. The T20I games will be played on September 28, October 2 and October 4 in Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati and Indore. The ODI games are scheduled to be played in Ranchi, Lucknow and Delhi on October 6, October 9 and October 11.

Meanwhile, both teams have already announced full-strength squads for the high-profile series, which will help the teams prepare well for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 that is set to take place in October-November in Australia.

Former India National Cricket Team batter Sanjay Manjrekar was dropped by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from the commentary panel in 2020. Notably, the 57-year-old’s BCCI hibernation commenced during an ODI series between India and South Africa in 2020 during the South Africa tour of India. The series consisted of three matches, which had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is believed that Sanjay Manjrekar was dropped from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) commentary panel due to alleged differences with a senior BCCI official. Also, he was not seen on Star Sports for a very long time. Notably, Star Sports is BCCI’s official broadcaster.

Sanjay Manjrekar was seen on Star Sports during last year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. However, he wasn’t part of the commentary team during the league phase. Also, he was part of the Star Sports panel during the ICC Women’s World Cup in New Zealand.
