Bangladesh and Afghanistan are set to lock horns with each other in the third and final ODI of the series on Monday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. Bangladesh sealed the series 2-0 after winning the second ODI by 88 runs. They would be looking to register a series whitewash on Monday. Tamim Iqbal and Co. batted first in the last match and managed to score a gigantic score of 306 runs on the board.
Liton Das played a sensational knock of 136 runs in 126 balls, which was laced with 16 fours and 2 sixes. Mushfiqur Rahim also provided valuable support with an 86-run knock off 93 balls. Thanks to those contributions, Bangladesh managed to post a winning score on the board. The Afghanistan bowlers couldn’t create a lot of pressure on the opposition batters.
Rashid Khan conceded 54 runs for just 1 wicket in 10 overs, while Nabi conceded 26 runs in 4 overs without a wicket to his name. Fareed Ahmad picked 2 wickets but conceded 56 runs in 8 overs. In pursuit of that score, Afghanistan were bundled out for 218 runs in the second innings.
Rahmat Shah provided great support at the top of the order but wickets kept falling at the other end. Shah managed to score 52 off 71 balls. Najibullah Zadran continued his fine form as he managed to compile a well-made 54 off 61 balls.
However, neither of them could go on to score a century and, in the end, Afghanistan fell 88 runs short of the target. Bangladesh put in a combined bowling performance in the second innings. All the bowlers managed to pick at least one wicket. Taskin Ahmed and Shakib Al Hasan claimed two wickets each to their name.
