Jitin Prasada, a former high-profile Congress leader who joined BJP in 2021, took a dig at senior leader Kapil Sibal for his June 2021 tweet. Nearly a year after criticising Prasada for switching over to BJP, Sibal dumped Congress and filed a Rajya Sabha nomination as an Independent candidate on Wednesday, May 25.

In 2021, Sibal raised the question whether Jitin would get “Prasada” from the BJP or was he just a ‘catch’ for the Uttar Pradesh elections.

“Jitin Prasada joins BJP. The question is will he get prasada from BJP or is he just a catch for UP elections? In such deals if ‘ideology’ doesn’t matter changeover is easy,” Sibal had said.

“How’s the Prasad Mr Sibal,” Jitin Prasada tweeted today, taking a cheeky dig at Sibal.

Kapil Sibal told reporters that he had already tendered his resignation from Congress on May 16, days after the much-hyped Chintan Shivir.

“I was a Congress leader. But not anymore. I had resigned from Congress on May 16. I am thankful to Akhilesh Yadav ji. Many people are coming together for 2024 (Lok Sabha elections). We will expose the shortcomings of the central government ahead of 2024,” Sibal said.

Earlier, former Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jhakar, Patidar leader Hardik Patel, Former Union ministers Ashwani Kumar and RPN Singh had quit the grand old party.
