As this is the first time Esports have featured in the Commonwealth Games it’ll be interesting to see how the teams cope under the pressure. St. Clair Saints were the Canadian team winners in the National Qualifiers for the Rocket League Open Category, which was held earlier this year, and will go on to represent Canada in Birmingham.

Unsurprisingly, the growth of Esports has seen other industries build around it and benefit from its success. One of the main areas has been Esports betting, with games such as Rocket League, League of Legends, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive being found on most sites. Being featured in the Commonwealth Games is only likely to boost this area due to the exposure to a wider audience, although the competitive nature of the industry means it can be hard to find the best offers. However, sites such as Canadian-sports-betting.com compile the various offers and review them so local bettors can find the option most suited to them. With numerous major tournaments across the major titles coming up in the rest of the year, there are likely to be plenty of opportunities for bettors new to this area.

For Esports fans all over the world, including in Canada, it’ll be an interesting series of events, especially as Rocket League happens to be one of the most popular Esports around at the moment. The recent Gamers8 Rocket League tournament had a prize pool of $2,000,000 million, as covered on earlygame.com, and averaged 15,000 viewers, while the RLCS is a fixture throughout the year with regular tournaments and sizeable winnings.

It’s taken a lot of hard work for the-globalesports.org and Commonwealth Games Federation to bring this together. But now it is, Esports fans can watch teams play three global games: Dota 2, eFootball series and Rocket League.

Esports has taken off at an exponential rate, with Canada at the forefront. With the internet and improved technology, gamers and professional players are able to reach out to a bigger audience than ever before.
