New Delhi: Electric scooter maker Bounce today announced that its Infinity brand scooter sales will start on July 22 and the company will be selling the e-scooters through the e-commerce marketplace Flipkart. It will deliver the scooter to the homes of customers within 15 days of booking, a company release said.

Initially, customers from New Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, and Maharashtra will be able to access the product while getting benefits of state subsidies for electric vehicles, it added.

A spokesperson said the company had an order book of over 60,000 and had sold only 4,000 vehicles as it begins to sell in phases across cities. The company expects to break into the top 10 manufacturers this month, the spokesperson added.

“The electric vehicle industry in India is at the cusp of an innovation and we’ve been at the forefront of offering customers the best-in-class EV solution in the form of Infinity e.1,” said Vivekananda Hallakere, CEO and cofounder, Bounce.

“We firmly believe that electric scooter distribution will be an omnichannel play and e-commerce will play a crucial role in its geographical expansion and bringing customer delight. We are delighted to make our products available on Flipkart as we find synergies in our vision of fulfilling customers’ evolving requirements in a seamless manner,” Hallakere said.

Walmart-owned Flipkart said it was committed to bringing market access for sellers and direct-to-consumer brands through its technology platform that enables them to reach out to customers across the country.

“In this endeavor, we are delighted to work with Bounce Infinity to enable them to offer their electric scooter to millions of customers through our platform. Through this first-of-its-kind initiative which we are exploring in five cities to begin with, customers will be able to seamlessly place an order on Flipkart and the vehicle will be delivered by Bounce Infinity’s dealer network,” said Rakesh Krishnan, senior director, electronics, Flipkart.

After posting explosive growth for the last two years, sale of electric scooters have cooled off a bit in the last three months due to a variety of issues including supply chain constraints and a backlash to a spate of fires in the industry. Ather Energy however believes the setback is temporary and industry volumes are still on track to more than double to nearly 100,000 units every month by the end of this fiscal year.
